Child Labor is a growing concern aroud the world, the Map above shows child labor in the continents.
AgricultureNearly 70% of child labor occurs in agriculture, fishing, hunting, and forestry. Children have been found harvesting:
•bananas in Ecuador
•cotton in Egypt and Benin
•cut flowers in Colombia
•oranges in Brazil
•cocoa in the Ivory Coast
•tea in Argentina and Bangladesh
•fruits and vegetables in the U.S.
Manufacturing
About 15 million children are estimated to be directly involved in manufacturing goods for export, including:
•Carpets from India, Pakistan, Egypt
•Clothing sewn in Bangladesh; footwear made in India and the Philippines
•Soccer balls sewn in Pakistan
•Glass and bricks made in India
•Fireworks made in China, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, and Peru
•Surgical instruments made in Pakistan
Mining and Quarrying
Child laborers suffer extremely high illness and injury rates in underground mines, opencast mines, and quarries. Children as young as 6 or 7 years old break up rocks, and wash, sieve, and carry ore. Nine-year-olds work underground setting explosives and carrying loads. Children work in a range of mining operations, including:
•Gold in Colombia
•Charcoal in Brazil and El Salvador
•Chrome in Zimbabwe
•Diamonds in Cote d’Ivoire
•Emeralds in Colombia
•Coal in Mongolia

POLISH PRESIDENT DEAD IN PLANE CRASH
The polish president Lech Kaczynski died yesterday on a plane crash on his way to Russia, along with other officials like Military Chiefs, MPs and historians died on the plane. a total of 96 deaths occured that day, no person onboard the plane survived the crash. It was a foggy place with high trees, thirty minutes from the airport. I think that it was planned.

Internet Acces a "Fundamental Right"?
Four out of five people agreed that internet access is a fundamental right in a survey done in 26 countries for 27,000 people. Countries like Finland and Estonia have already ruled that internet access is a "fundamental right", other global organizations like the UN are also pushing for universal internet access.

Vancouver Winter Olympics Finished
The Vancouver winter Olympics drew to a fantastic ending, with America earning the most medals at 37 medals. Canada topped the medal table with 14 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. Amy Williams won the only medal for Great Britain. Germany finished with 30 medals 10 of which were gold. Sadly the games started off with the death of Georgian 21-year old Nodar Kumaritashvili.

Lufthansa Pilots go on Strike
About 4,500 Lufthansa pilots are going on a four day strike in a dispute against job safety. The carrier has cancelled about 3,000 flights, and has warned of delays of both domestic and international flights. Lufthansa fears this strike may cost it about 25 million euros per day. The pilots are not due to go back to work until Thursday midnight. Lufthansa have tried to book trains for domestic flights passengers who were supposed to go on the cancelled flights. Lufthansa said that they are open to talks but without preconditions.

Maria Sharapova VS. Sofia Arvidsson Who Wins?
Maria Sharapova wins the Cellular South Cup in Memphis, she won the final against Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson. She Broke Serve four times in the final and won her first title of the year. Sharapova had spent about a year out of play for shoulder injury, after her defeat to Maria Kirilenko in Australia, it was suggested thatshe was still suffering from shoulder injury.
